1985 Medal of Honor for a Non-Lawyer awarded to Sylvia Alberdi

Sylvia Alberdi is awarded the 1985 Medal of Honor in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the administration of justice in Florida.

Through years of experience, knowledge and an inherent faith in the American form of government, Sylvia Alberdi typifies the role of dedicated public servant. As staff director of the Florida Senate’s Civil Judiciary Committee, her leadership made possible passage of legislation critical to an improved civil justice system in the state of Florida. Her strength and deep understanding of Florida’s court system led to greater understanding of the relationship between our three branches of government.

Always keeping uppermost in her mind that it is the public which ultimately benefits or suffers from government’s successes or failures, we salute Sylvia Alberdi for her selfless devotion to the highest ideals of good government and for her invaluable service the citizens of Florida.
