Grant Eligibility
Before applying to FFLA grant programs, organizations that are new to FFLA funding (or that have been denied in the past for eligibility reasons) must submit an IOTA Grantee Eligibility Application. These requests are considered by the FFLA board, usually within 2-3 months of submission, and approval should be obtained before starting an application for any specific grant program.

- Is the organization a nonprofit and tax-exempt with the IRS?
- Does the organization have a primary mission to provide free civil legal services by qualified legal service providers to low-income individuals?
- Does the organization operate in Florida?
- Can the organization show at least three years of successful experience providing free civil legal services for individual low-income clients?
- Can the organization provide audited financials (grantees must also produce a separate audit showing proper use of IOTA funds each year)?
- Does the organization have internal controls that ensure grant funds are spent only on eligible legal services, not prohibited areas?
If you answered “no” to any of these questions, stop here. Your program is not currently eligible for FFLA grants.
