The University of Miami School of Law has won the 2024 MVP Pro Bono Award for the Florida Pro Bono Law School Challenge, a program run by FFLA, formerly The Florida Bar Foundation. Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law won the Alumni Engagement and Student Engagement Awards.
“FFLA is pleased to see law students continuing to show a strong desire to provide pro bono services,” FFLA President Roberto R. Pardo said. “What started as a small, eight-week pilot program six years ago turned into a successful year-round platform that benefited many students and lawyers.”
The Challenge matched laws students and lawyers on more than 1,300 pro bono cases over six years. On May 31, 2024, the Challenge went on a hiatus. FFLA is in the process of gathering feedback from students, law schools, lawyers and legal aid providers to improve the Challenge.
“We look forward to providing pro bono opportunities for students again soon,” Pardo said.
