Hurricane season, which runs through Nov. 30, isn’t over yet. FFLA’s new hurricane preparedness resource, featuring two comprehensive slide sets packed with practical links and actionable tips, serves as a guide to facing a hurricane. The first guide outlines important resources in the days leading up to a storm. The second guide provides information and advice for various post-storm legal circumstances.
“FFLA looks forward to collaborating with local voluntary bar associations (VBAs), courts and legal aid organizations to support the public with these guides,” FFLA Executive Director Donny MacKenzie said. “We hope to help Floridians better prepare for hurricanes and the aftermath.”
The guides were created to be shared with any organizations to whom the public may turn for help with disaster relief. Both slide sets can be viewed and downloaded on FFLA’s website.
Legal Services Alabama created similar guides and served as the inspiration for FFLA. Organizations are encouraged to share these resources with homeowners and renters in Florida, especially in high-risk areas.
FFLA hopes the guides will equip Florida residents with a greater understanding of hurricane preparedness and the legal resources available to them.
“We want Floridians to have access to information in the event of a natural disaster. FFLA is proud to provide this extensive resource developed by staff without external funding,” MacKenzie said.
