Gonzalez takes office as second vice president, honored with President’s Award for Excellence

Maria C. Gonzalez,  a board certified marital and family law lawyer from Miramar, took office as the second vice president of The Florida Bar Foundation on July 1, 2023. The Foundation is a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

Gonzalez has served on the Foundation’s board of directors since 2018 and chaired its Grants Committee in 2022-23. She was recognized with the Honorable Raymond T. McNeal Professionalism Award in 2018 and the Honorable Hugh E. Stearns Community Service Award in 2016. She is past chair of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, past chair of the Marital and Family Law Board Certification Committee and past president of The First Family Law American Inn of Court.

Previously, she was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism and Civility. In 2018, she was appointed to serve on the committee tasked with updating the Bounds of Advocacy which sets goals and guidelines for family lawyers in Florida.

For her willingness to volunteer whenever asked and without hesitation, her steadfast commitment to facilitating fiscal support for the Foundation,
and her calm, rational and assertive leadership, Gonzalez was honored with the Foundation’s 2023 President’s Award for Excellence.
