Tampa lawyer Murray Silverstein takes office as president of Foundation

Murray Silverstein, partner in the newly-opened Tampa office of national firm Stinson LLP, took office July 1, 2023, as president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

Silverstein, whose practice areas include unfair competition, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, contract claims, intellectual property, and health care litigation, earned his bachelor’s and law degrees at Stetson University.

Silverstein served for eight years on The Florida Bar Board of Governors, which regulates Florida’s 110,000 lawyer members.  He also served on several Bar committees and chaired The Florida Bar Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration Committee. Silverstein also served and led committees of the Florida Courts Technology Commission, which advised the Florida Supreme Court on technology issues in Florida’s courts.

In 2006, he received the William Reece Smith Jr. Public Service Award. He was honored with The Florida Bar President’s Award of Merit in 2010 and The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award in 2011. He was a board member and past president of Community Law Program in St. Petersburg.

Silverstein is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and member of its Silver Lifetime Giving Society.

In December 2023, The Florida Bar Foundation changed its name to FFLA. Posts prior to this date contain our former name.
