Winter Haven, Fla., investment advisor Thomas R. Oldt will take office July 1, 2018, as first vice president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

Oldt earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of South Florida and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era. Prior to entering the securities business, he worked as a research librarian at The Washington Post, covered Congress as a writer for The Energy Daily, was a reporter for The Ledger and The St. Petersburg Times, and taught history, economics and government.

Licensed by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in multiple states, Oldt serves as a registered representative and general securities principal specializing in a broad spectrum of corporate and personal retirement planning. For the past 15 years he also has been an industry arbitrator for FINRA.

Oldt serves on several community boards and organizations, including the Florida Justice Technology Center and the GiveWell Community Foundation.

Oldt began his service on The Florida Bar Foundation board in 2012. He is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and a member of the Foundation’s Silver Society for lifetime giving.
