To purchase and distribute statewide copies of “Images and Reality: Juvenile Crime, Youth Violence and Public Policy”

Affordable Housing Project: To effect changes on a statewide level for the improvement in policies that affect Florida’s low-income, moderate-income and special needs populations, by influencing state housing and growth management legislation, planning policies, housing delivery programs, and administrative rules.

Effectively Representing Persons with Disabilities: To develop a two-day continuing legal education seminar, “Effective Representation of Individuals with Disabilities.”

Legal Director Project: To expand the Indigent Representation Project, increase recruitment of cooperating attorneys, improve research resources, centralize fee litigation, and expand presence in North Florida.

1998 Constitutional Review: For funding a conference to assemble views, comments and recommendations of diverse interests and groups throughout Florida prior to the 1998 Constitutional Review Commission meetings.

Public Education Project: To conduct a statewide in-depth survey of public attitudes about alternatives to incarceration; to conduct public education programs to promote a more rational approach to criminal justice issues and to hold one or more regional or statewide conferences of legislators and other leaders to review justice issues.

Community Empowerment for Children 1995: To expand the impact of the Florida Children’s Campaign, to hold elected officials accountable for the quality of life of Florida’s children and families; expand the Center’s county-based network through the recruitment of volunteers and allies and by providing leadership and guidance for local activities; expand the ability of the Center to disseminate its publications to a wider audience; expand the membership base of the Center; expand the Center’s ability to promote the children’s advocacy agenda; and provide regional and national leadership in child advocacy associations and coalition. A major new goal is to establish the Juvenile Justice Advocacy Project which will emphasize services to at-risk youth.

Civil Solutions: For continued support of statewide law-related education projects targeted primarily to elementary and secondary school students to heighten awareness and practical understanding of our laws and legal institutions.

Video on Racial/Ethnic/Gender Bias in Law Practice: For the writing, production, publication and statewide circulation of a videotape and related training materials on issues raised by the Florida Supreme Court Commissions on Racial, Ethnic and Gender Bias in the Practice of Law in Florida.

Select Committee To Study Fla. Board of Bar Examiners: To review the admissions process to determine where further enhancements or improvements should be made.

Moderate Income Access/Planning Grant

Moderate Income Access Conference: To help attorneys more effectively serve the moderate income population, inform moderate income people of the availability of affordable legal services, educate the public on instructional and self-help activities, and assist pro se litigants.
