Bill of Rights in Transit Project: To provide education programs and materials which encourage persons in the local community to undertake a legal career or to participate in various aspects of th law.

Trial Court Performance Standards: To pay the costs of a consultant to research the development of performance standards for trial circuit court judges.

Reporting on the Court and the Law: For costs associated with the presentation of the “Reporting on the Courts and the Law” seminar to teach journalists about the court system and strategies for covering it.

Needs Assessment on children at risk

Older Floridians Handbook/Elder Law Education: For revision and reprinting of The Older Floridians Handbook and to provide travel reimbursement for two commissioners.

Legal Needs Study: For general support of the National Legal Needs Study of Low and Moderate Income households to enhance the ability of the organized bar and individual lawyers to address the legal needs of the moderate income public.

Staff Counsel Project: For support of the Legal Director Project in defense of fundamental rights and to conduct legal rights public education programs to increase the case load throughout the state and broaden the array of cases taken; expand and better utilize the volunteer cooperating attorneys; establish unique principles of law as they relate to the ability of Florida Courts to redress civil right violations.

Lay Representation of Children–Study: To provide a framework for development of a strategic plan for providing Guardian Ad Litem services to Florida’s children over the next ten years.

Prosecutor/Public Defender Skills Advocacy: For partial support of the educational expenses of the Prosecutor/Public Defender Skills Training.

Dissolution/Videotape: To develop and produce a video on the divorce process in Florida. Litigants, especially pro se litigants, will be advised to view the presentation to become more knowledgeable of the role of the parties involved in the process, such as mediators and judges. The video will empower the parties to complete the divorce process with limited stress to the litigants and their families

To provide a bridge grant for general support of the Florida Aids Legal Defense and Education Fund. A portion of the funds will be used to employ administrative support staff.

Investing in Children ’92: To provide education and advocacy on behalf of children to expand the impact of the Florida Children’s Campaign; expand their ability to disseminate their publications to a wider audience; to promote the ability of staff to provide technical assistance to appointed commissions, task forces, and committees; and to expand their ability to promote the children’s advocacy agenda before civic, business, professional, religious and governmental groups.

Citizen Review Replication Project: To replicate the Dade County Florida Foster Care Review Project to provide technical assistance and professional support to other areas of the state in establishing citizen review programs and in developing a statewide network of those interested in the implementation of citizen review.

Florida Guardianship Oversight Board: To provide staff support, travel and per diem for board members.

For continued general support of statewide law-related projects targeted primarily to elementary and secondary school students to heighten awareness and practical understanding of our law and legal institutions.

Legal Fellowships in Community Development: To fund a pilot program to demonstrate the feasibility of legal fellowships for experienced young lawyers, with the backing of their law firms, to work with community development corporations in low-income neighborhoods. The pilot program would fund four fellows, each for two years, to serve four successful CDC’s in Dade County.

Planning Grant for Florida Correctional Reform: Support for a part-time coordinator to organize meetings, draft plans for review, prepare proposals for funding and obtain agreement on a reform program in an effort to reduce Florida’s prison population and costs, consistent with protection of public safety.

Support for the activities of the Corrections Working Group.

Judicial Selection and Tenure Conference: To discuss selection of county and circuit court judges, and issues relating to tenure for all judges.

Public Opinion Survey on Corrections Reform: To sponsor an in-dept, focus-group public opinion study.
